ADAR Medical Uniforms has built its reputation on medical apparel that fits — literally and figuratively. To help buyers make a uniform their own, ADAR asked us to add custom embroidery directly to the shopping experience on adaruniforms.com, without slowing down checkout or complicating fulfillment.
The challenge
Personalization sells, but it’s easy to get wrong. Customers needed a simple way to add a name or monogram to scrubs and uniforms, choose where it goes and what color thread to use, and see exactly what they’d get before adding to cart. Behind the scenes, every embroidered order had to carry clean, structured data through to fulfillment — with no manual re-typing of instructions.
What we built
We built an Embroidery Customisation feature on the existing Magento storefront:
- Text personalization — up to two lines of custom text, with thread color and font style (block or script) choices, all on the product page
- Logo embroidery — customers upload their own logo (JPG, PNG or EPS) for digitization and embroidery, with an approval step before it goes to production
- Placement options — left chest or right chest, matched to the garment
- Live preview — customers see their text or logo rendered on the product before buying
- Priced as cart options — text and logo embroidery are each added as a priced line-item option, flowing straight into cart and checkout

Logo reuse & the fulfillment workflow
A customisation feature has to work for the team fulfilling the order, not just the customer placing it. So alongside the storefront experience, we built the logic that ties logos, orders and approvals together:
- New logos are digitized, and priced accordingly — the first time a customer submits a logo, it needs to be converted into a stitch-ready embroidery file, so a one-time digitization fee applies
- Returning customers reuse logos for free — once a logo has been digitized, it’s saved to the customer’s account; next time, they simply pick it from their previously used logos with no repeat digitization fee
- Customisation from the cart too — customers aren’t limited to the product page; text and logo embroidery can also be added or adjusted right from the cart
- Full customisation detail on every order — admin sees exactly what each customer requested — text lines, thread color, font, logo and placement — attached to the relevant order item
- An approval gate before anything ships — once a new logo is digitized, admin reviews and approves it; only approved orders move on to shipping, so nothing goes out with an incorrect or unapproved design
The results
- A self-serve way for customers to personalize their own uniforms, right on the product page or from the cart
- Returning customers reorder embroidered items faster, without paying to re-digitize a logo they’ve already used
- Clean, structured embroidery details flow straight from checkout into the admin order screen — nothing gets re-typed or lost in translation
- An approval step before shipping keeps every embroidered order accurate
- No disruption to the existing B2B/B2C storefront or checkout flow
